Hi, I’m Annika Doneghy
From the time I took my first anthropology class in high school, I’ve loved the subject. This is why I created Annthropologically Rooted, because I want to share anthropology with others.
I majored in Anthropological Sciences in undergrad, hold a Master of Arts in Applied Anthropology, a Master of Public Health, and am currently a PhD Candidate in Medical Anthropology. As you can see, I really do love anthropology! Throughout my educational journey, I’ve learned a lot of fascinating things and gained new perspectives. Anthropology is not just a subject to learn but a way of thinking, being, feeling, and doing, and a lens we should all be using when thinking about how we navigate today’s world.

My Approach
What began as an interest in a new subject has evolved into my passion. Anthropology is my education, my background, my profession, and my expertise. I’m proud of where I am today and I know that anthropology has played such an important role in who I am as a scholar and a person. I’m excited for the future, to see where anthropology takes me, and where it can take us as we embark on this Annthropologically Rooted journey together.
Anthropological Insight
Throughout this space, I’ll share more about anthropology, what it is, and why it’s important. You’ll learn about the field but also about its applications to the real world. I truly believe if more people knew about anthropology, our world could be a better place.
Real Life
My anthropological journey has also been a personal journey. I’ll share more about the path I’ve taken, the hardships I’ve faced, my navigation through higher education, and the everyday in between. Learning about anthropology has provided me with tools to navigate my own social world.
